Training your own dog
The right work starts
with the right dog.
An evaluation comes before protection training. We consider your dog’s temperament, working potential, and suitability for your household alongside the goals you have in mind.

Suitability is individual.
Breed, size, and enthusiasm alone do not tell us whether protection work is appropriate. We consider confidence, stability, drives, environmental soundness, recovery from pressure, and the dog’s existing obedience and relationship with its owner.
Some dogs are better suited to another training direction. An evaluation may conclude that protection work is not appropriate, and we will explain that clearly.
Foundations before complexity.
Communication
Clear cues, consistent handling, and useful obedience help your dog understand the work and your expectations.
State of mind
We pay attention to how your dog responds to the environment and handles pressure, excitement, and recovery.
Owner involvement
You learn alongside your dog. Your handling, routines, and practice are part of the plan from the beginning.
Personal protection
A plan matched
to the partnership.
When the dog is suitable, training can address protection foundations, obedience, and appropriately progressed work based on the dog’s development and your goals.
We discuss scope, participation, scheduling, and pricing individually. There is no standard timeline that fits every dog.
Protection sport

Sport training follows a different purpose from personal protection. Let us know if your goals involve protection sport, individual decoy sessions, or developing sport foundations.
We’ll discuss the dog’s readiness, your experience, and current training availability. Group or club participation depends on suitability and capacity.
Before an evaluation.
What should I tell you about my dog?
Be open about training history, behavior around people and animals, past incidents, health considerations, and your goals. Accurate information helps us discuss an appropriate next step.
Can protection training fix aggression?
Protection work is not a treatment for aggression or reactivity. Existing behavior concerns need to be understood and addressed appropriately before considering any protection work.
What does an evaluation cost?
Protection evaluations are free. If training is appropriate, the program and its pricing are discussed individually.
What if I need everyday obedience or behavior support?
ARK DOG provides the family’s companion-dog training services. Tell us what you are experiencing so we can help identify the right training direction.
